More great cars in ads…

Who wouldn’t want one of these? Soooo cute.

This ad appeared about six years ago and used a working ‘Peacar’ that was built on a VW Microbus Chassis. The car was originally in the Birds Eye office reception but not sure where it is now? Would love to see it.

Multipla’s have been used as advertising vehicles. In 1960 this great pink Multipla with attached pig was used to advertise ham.

Soggy day at the GRRC Sprint

Mario popped down to Goodwood for the GRRC Sprint – unfortunately it was a typical Bank Holiday…

Although Mario’s internal water fountain has been eliminated quite a lot of water was still seeping in so more remedial work needs to be done on the window seals.

Still it was a day out and there was some action on track although one or two of the entries was a little too enthusiastic resulting in some rather expensive modifications to the body work!

Not too much more to say other than we all got pretty wet and chilly so here are a few pics before we went home.

Ugly duckling… Not

Have you seen the new Audi ad? Based on the children’s fairy tale ‘the ugly duckling’ it features a wonderful Auto Union Protype car from the 20’s that supposedly grows up to become an Audi A5. Mario loves the original streamliner and doesn’t think it’s ugly at all!

Wheels Day

Lovely colour - a lime green Karmaan Ghia

Mario has had a lovely sunny Good Friday out at Wheels Day. This annual show held at Rushmoor Arena near Aldershot and organised by The Surrey Street Rodders is primarily a custom car show but always attracts a very varied and interesting collection of cars, although not all to our taste!

Obviously happy to be out and about on a lovely spring day, Mario performed well and even amongst this large collection of unique vehicles still attracted more than his fair share of attention. This show is very well attended with possibly over 1000 exhibiting vehicles. Here is a small selection of a few that caught our eye. A few more will be on Mario’s Facebook page, if you haven’t already ‘liked’ him please pop along and do so.

Black 'Slug'

VW Pickup, Lambretta service vehicle with matching scooter

Huge American Hearse with coffin, skeleton and rat - the Multipla hearse would be a huge attraction as this event

One of the only four known Monkeemobiles, made for the TV series in the world – a 1967 Pontiac GTO

Last but not least better have a pic of Mario!
